Subject: Winners! - Seattle, WA
Dear Vickie,
Agility Cat Canada, was proud to facilitate it's first ICAT competition for the Evergreen Cat Fancier's "My Furry Valentine" Cat Show held this past weekend in Seattle, Washington.
It was a huge success and thousands of people came to watch the cat agility. There was an amazing amount of publicity in print, television, and radio and we were very fortunate to have Shirley Piper at the show to present ICAT and promote cat agility.
Many people tried it with their cats for the first time and this
included most of the winning cats and kittens of the event. The
winners are as follows:
CAT DIVISION: BASIC LEVEL COURSE
1st Place: $75.00 Cash Prize awarded to "Shadowfax", Russian Blue
Cat, 0 Faults, 27.25 seconds
Handler: Amanda Bright
2nd Place: $50.00 Cash Prize awarded to "Cody", Maine Coon Cat, 0
Faults, 36.37 seconds
Handler: Paula McCann
3rd Place: $25.00 Cash Prize awarded to "Killi", Ocicat Cat, 0
Faults, 1 minute and 12.83 seconds
Handler: Roy Yates
[Note from Vickie: this means Killi has at least 6 Clean Runs, maybe
seven (I'll know when the paperwork arrives from Laurie Ann), and he
is still in the lead to earn the world's first Agility Cat title,
with nine being needed. I've seen Killi on the course, and he is
slow but steadily goes where Roy asks him.]
KITTEN DIVISION:
1st Place: $75.00 Cash Prize awarded to "Reigna Tara", Bengal Kitten,
0 Faults 29.10 seconds
Handler: Pam Knowles
2nd Place: $50.00 Cash Prize awarded to "Dallas", Household Pet

We have the Garden City Cat Club promoting cat agility at the Victoria Pet Expo this upcoming weekend and I will be having a booth at the Vancouver Pet Expo in March.
We look forward to our next northwest region's ICAT event to be held
in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada in April!
Sincerely,
Laurie Ann Bone

I was at the Seattle show and it was great fun, My Peterbald kitten did GREAT on her first day, she learned the whole course in about 5 tries and would race through the tunnels and wait at the end for me, but I would like to give everyone a little advice.
I decided to wait until the last day when I wasn't as busy to get her to go through the course to be timed, I figured since she did so good the first day that I could wait, BIG mistake, by the last day all my kittens and cats were sleeping ALL day and did not want to wake up let alone run the course. So I took the kitten and she ran through the course pretty fast, BUT she just ran through the tunnels, figuring that once she did that I would be happy and she could go back to her cage to sleep, so needless to say because I waited she did so bad you would have thought it was her first time, she had 14 faults and then 18 faults, she had lost all of her desire to play, all she wanted was to sleep.
The moral of this story: When your cat does the course good, DO NOT wait, let them time you right away, the cats are way too tired by the end of the show, my little Peterbald has never been that low energy in her life and I would have sworn prior to that day that you could never wear out my kitten, but she proved me wrong and we lost. We are coming to the BC show and this time I will not wait, she will prevail, I hope.

And congratulations to all the winners, the cats ALL did great, it was fun to watch and a joy to participate. Everyone should at least try it.
