ICATers,

Many kittens in Wichita tried the agility course, and there were several enthusiastic runs even if the accuracy and guidance needs practice. Some adult cats also tried the course for their first time. It's great to be in new areas, like Wichita was, and watch first-timers (owners and cats) getting their cats moving around on the course and learning each obstacle.

Congratulations to the Winners in Wichita, and thank you to KansasCats for the lovely rosettes, which had head buttons of the ICAT jumping cat logo.

KITTEN
1st Place, Shenoa, a Bengal, owned/handled by Sherry Ellis, 0 faults, 23:97 seconds (speedy!)
2nd Place, Hallee, a Bengal, owned/handled by Denise Blede, 0 faults, 30:80 seconds
3rd Place, Clover, a Savannah F2, owned/handled by Denise Blede, 1 fault, 2:35:00 seconds

The KansasCat club provided some other awards for the ICAT ring:

OLDEST CAT WHO TRIED
Baily, 4 years 6 months, owner Kelly Green

BEGINNER WHO TRIED
Cimarron, owner Janet Lee

BEGINNER WHO DECIDED NOT TO
Snow Bear, owner Ann McGreger

Thanks again to KansasCats for having ICAT at their show, which resulted in some great publicity for the show, including a big article in Sunday's newspaper with a large photograph.

See you 'round the ring,

Vickie

...

We extend a very special thank you to Shirley Piper and her parents - they drove the ICAT equipment out clear from California, and charmed both the exhibitors and the gate, as well as impressing the news services! I have already been asked if they will be back next year, and I was as encouraging to the press as I could be without actually committing (whew, Shirley - had you nervous, didn't I?) However, the effort they expended to get ICAT here for the show was enormous, and it was a GREAT help to the show and was and is VERY much appreciated. Most of the people I know have been nattering on all ay about how cute the little abby was going through the run, or how funny the Persian was when he sat down and said "help", Ann's big SnowBear got the award for "Cat Who Decided Not To"!

Hi Vickie and list!

Comments around town are very favorable, and I think a return would draw many more people. DOn't know if you caught the 10PM news on Sat, but Channel 12 ran some snippets of the show, and they caught some of the action in the ICAT ring! The cute little abby kit was just popping through the obstacles like an old hand - enough to melt anyone!

Thanks so much to ICAT and to Shirley Piper for making this possible for the Wichita show! ICAT did much to make the first TICA show in Kansas a success.

KansasCats is looking forward to establishing a relationship with the local 4H groups, and I think some training clinics on ICAT would be a wonderful way to bring our next generation into the wonderful world of cat addiction, what do you think?

Charlotte

P.S. Ann laughed and laughed over Snow Bear - they already told us he didn't "jump much"....
