Many thanks to Cats of the Finger Lakes and Westchester Feline Club for bringing ICAT there for everyone to enjoy at their fabulously done Annual show!

ICAT started at a TICA show nearly two years ago, and in Syracuse the new smaller ICAT beginner-level agility course was well received by exhibitors and spectators alike and there weren't many moments when the agility course was not in use. With fewer obstacles and a smaller configuration, cats and kittens of many breeds were negotiating the course with much success and everyone was having fun. The agility arena was located outside of the main show hall but this didn't impede participants from bringing their cats between judging to try out the course and attempt to complete the Crazy 8 agility skill certificate.

There were some unexpected moments of delight for a few owners when their normally placid kitties were racing through the tunnel and jumping the fence with little or no assistance from their owners. Next week we will have photographs and a video up on the ICAT website, www.catagility.org, showing some frisky Persians and a perky young Exotic Shorthair. Bengal cat, "Animatrax Zoom" with handler, Laurie Ann Bone, from Port Moody, BC, Canada, was the winner of the adult cat agility division with a no fault run of 4.44 seconds. Zoom, a happy and responsive agility cat was also used as an "introductory cat" to cat agility and allowed new people including spectators to try this feline sport for the first time. One dozen new handlers "zoomed" around the course with him including four TICA cat show judges and the official Royal Canin sponsor representatives of the show - Zoom had these agility neophytes' hearts pumping as they quickly went through the course with him!

Household pet kitten, "Tapper", aged 4 months, with handler Jackie Luebke-Puetz, from Kiel, Wisconsin, was the winner of the Kitten agility division with a no-faults run of 8:34 seconds.

Vickie Shields officiated the weekend's agility event and was busy accepting the registrations of ICAT agility cats at this Annual TICA Awards Show, as kittens and cats that are ICAT registered can use their no-faults runs towards the Basic Agility Cat titles, and Agility Skill Certificates, and their scores are included on the ICAT International Standings.
