Hi ICATers,
Last weekend TICACats hosted the Europe North Regional Award Show in Rüsselsheim. Probably it was the most important show of the European show-season – the cat count was huge as 250 cats had entered the show. In Germany we are used to see a lot of Maine Coons. But this time we had also the pleasure to admire an incredible number of Ragdolls since the show hosted an international Ragdoll congress.
Rüsselsheim was the first show in Europe to include ICAT in its program. The course was placed in a smaller hall next to the show hall. As we were in a sport hall with an ideal floor, we didn’t need to lay out a carpet.
The fencing arrived Friday directly from France. Olivier Rasse who had built the fencing was also there and he helped us to set it up on Saturday morning. We arrived at the show hall at about 7:30 am and the course was ready by 9 o’clock. In the future we hope that we will be able to build the course within one hour.
On Saturday we gave all the exhibitors the opportunity to try their cats and to find out how well they do on the course. On Sunday we also timed some runs, mostly of kittens, who definitively learn faster. Several cats were able to run the course without faults. The following kittens had the best runs:
Spice Banira – 7 months old Bengal male, clear run in 27 seconds
Ajanta Dev Kumar – 5 months old Bengal male, clear run in 41 seconds
Tyuda Icing on the Cake – 4 month old Russian Blue female, clear run in 2 minutes and 5 seconds.
About 40 cats tried to run the course – some with more success, some with less – but everybody had a lot of fun. From the Perian to the Sfinx almost all the breeds were represented and the public enjoyed seeing how these cats move. The feed back was generally very positive and I’m sure we will soon see more ICAT events here in Europe.
Regards
Boris
